Tickled Pink

On the sb.com cardmaking forum, there is a laid back daily challenge that some of us try to do when we can. Saturday's challenge was to do a monochromatic card. I usually don't do cards in just one color, so I had to try it out :) I ended up with this pink card, which Alexis is totally head over heels about.

On Dawy McVey's blog she had a gorgeous card using text, so that was fresh in my mind. Come to think of it, she also has been posting a wonderful pink series of cards...but I promise I didnt' copy her on that! :) Pink was just in my brain today, probably from a certain little girl that lives at my house. I didn't use any patterned paper, because I didn't have any pink paper the shade that I wanted. So I pulled out an old text stamp that I got at Goodwill this year and stamped with Versamark onto white cardstock. I embossed it with clear powder and then rubbed Angel Pink Memento ink over the top with a cloth. The end result is raised white words on a filmy pink paper. I used Rose Bud Memento ink to stamp the butterflies (Verve Stamps) onto the paper as well as the flourish at the bottom left (7 Gypsies). Where the embossing is, it resists any ink, so it creates a neat effect.

I stamped the same butterflies onto light pink cardstock and cut them out to place them over their stamped images on the card. I glittered them with Stickles and Martha Stewart white mica flakes and curled their wings out. Really this all sounds like such a process, but the card only took about 15 minutes to make because I knew what I wanted to do. And because I had twice the amount of hand stamped paper I needed, I made this card as well!

I used a pretty damask stamp from Papertrey Ink's Damask Designs and the Rose Bud ink and stamped it along the edge of the embossed paper. I loved how the white words showed through the damask!

Both of the scallops on the cards are by Spellbinders Nestabilities, and I used a Martha Stewart Lattice punch on both cards as well, and an EK Success Diamond Lace punch on the 2nd. The sentiments on both cards are from Papertrey Ink's Mega Mixed Messages. Such a versatile set!
