No Patterned Paper Challenge

I decided to join the No Patterned Paper Challenge at sb.com, since I really wanted to use some of my new stamps on a layout. Here's what I came up with:

I used Papertrey Ink's "Up, Up and Away!" and "Woodgrain Basics" along with a handfull of Hambly bird stickers. The "Up, Up and Away!" set has so many awesome images and tons of possibilities! I wanted the layout to reflect the fun colors and look of the photo, as well as some whimsical childhood wonder.

I also got to use my new Deep Edge Punch by Martha Stewart that I just LOVE. The challenge at sb.com is open all of July, so check it out! Thanks for taking a peek ♥

Scraps Solution

I enjoy using up random scraps from other projects. When the papers are especially lovely like these October Afternoon and Studio Calico papers, I just can't bring myself to toss them! This is a really easy way to use up those scraps. I start with a base that I will be adhering to the card, in this case I used a Kraft base. That way, I can stitch on it if I like. I don't measure the scraps, I just lay them on the base and eyeball how much to cut off.

The text paper I used was from an old book page. I liked how it looked with the other scraps. After I had the paper adhered, I found some alphas I liked and decided on buttons with twine. Instead of threading the twine through the paper and buttons, I just threaded the twine through the buttons and adhered them with Glue Arts Adhesive Squares. They're kind of like Glue Dots...but better ;)

There are a ton of different ways to position the paper scraps on a card like this, so just let loose and see what you can come up with. Thanks for taking a peek!

Some new and old stamps from Papertrey

If you're into stamping and cards, you've probably heard of Papertrey Ink stamps. They're some of my very favorites, even though I have only collected a few sets over the past three years or so. One of my very favorites is the Damask Designs. It has several different damasks that you can use to create your own patterns like on this card. The sentiment also came from that set. They're really nice for an elegant wedding or anniversary card, but versatile enough for anything.

I got a couple of new sets of stamps recently from Papertrey, one of them is the Up, Up and Away! set. It has tons of different balloons, kites, some clouds and a variety of sentiments. Aren't those balloons fun?

If you've never heard of Papertrey, head on over to their site (linked above). Lots of fun new stuff and they have releases every month! Thanks for taking a peek :)

hello!

Well, somehow I still managed NOT to get more projects done to share. Sheesh! But today happens to be deadline day for another magazine I was submitting to - and since I didn't get any e-mail, that means they're not going to ask for any of the items I submitted. Sooooo...I'll share them here instead :)
This card was made with a stamp by Kodomo, Inc. Love their Asian flair stamps! I colored the image with Copic markers and embellished with Prima Marketing pearls. The sentiment was made using a Cuttlebug die and the background embossing, using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The stamped image was cut using a Spellbinders Label Nestability (Labels 8).

Thanks for taking a peek! Some of you may notice the new blog layout and photos as well. Hope you like it!

you'd think...

Well, you'd think that with no kids tearing around like crazy monsters, I'd have so much time to update the blog with tons of new projects. Well...you'd be wrong!
Oh, I've been doing tons of new projects, just the kind I can't share just yet. Soon though, pretty soon. :) I guess going on a bit of a vacation with no papercrafting time just infused me with inspiration. When we got back, I just went to town and haven't stopped!

We've also been having amazing summer weather. It's not so humid and it's been 75-85 degrees; not too common for June here! I've also been busy looking at all the new stuff that's coming out for CHA. Have you seen anything awesome yet?

Well, maybe - JUST maybe - I will get some stuff done today that I can post. I need to do a few last minute fathers day cards for the store along with a couple birthday and sympathy. Oh darn, more crafting I just have to do. so sad. ;)

back!

Well, I'm back from a week-long vacay, and since I didn't schedule posts for the past several days I thought I should check in. Summer seems to be in full swing to me now; it's warm and the flowers are just bursting all over. The Spring flowers are mostly gone or fading, but the summer flowers look beautiful.
I am in a creating sort of mood right now, but to tell the truth, my scrap table is a disaster! I have officially run out of storage space for a few things and it all seemed to congregate on the table bit by bit. I hate spending money on storage because it's expensive AND that is money I could be spending on fun goodies. But, I suppose I can't use my fun goodies if I have no space...argh! I did just see that Hobby Lobby is offering the 40% off coupon this coming week though. That will help a bit.
Here is a fun card I'd like to share with you today. I got the ribbon at Hobby Lobby and just went with it. I cut jagged pieces from black paper and layered it over the pink background, added the sticky dots and sentiment and that was about it. Super easy!

Well, that's about it for today, hopefully I'll get something cleaned soon here. ☻
