September - Scrap Your Food!

I'm hosting a new challenge at Scrapbook.com called September - Scrap Your Food!

For this challenge, you will be scrapbooking some sort of food. You can do your favorite food, a food that you think is interesting, a beautiful plate of food, etc.

There are a few twists:

1. No photos of people on the layout!
2. Use some sort of fun trim or ribbon.
3. Use the color brown on the layout.

As far as rules, we're pretty laid back. Try to leave some love, but don't feel like you have to hit every single person. Do your best. I don't want any challenge drive by's though! If you enter a LO, come back around a few times during the month to see what everyone has done. Enter from now until the end of September. This challenge is for love/fun! Here are 2 examples to get you started.

College girl again

I've now finished my first week of college classes, whew! So far so good. I think I'm starting to get back into the groove of college...and being asked what hall I live in helps! ☺

Between classes and running around getting books, parking permits, and all that other stuff, I haven't had time this week for fun new scrappy stuff. However, today is my blog day at Scrap 'n Art, so if you want to see a quick blog post on manual photo editing (not digi), check it out!

The new issue of SNA comes out soon, you won't want to miss out. ☻

One more day of work

That's all I have left! Tomorrow is the last day that I will be working at Snickerdoodles and then I start classes on Monday.
I only have one class on M/W/F, and 3 on T/Th. I'm kind of excited :)

School is going well for the kids, they seem to be enjoying their teachers and being back with their friends. Alexis' teacher reminds me of the teacher from The Magic Schoolbus. Hehe! She kind of looks like her and is just that fun kind of teacher.

Today, I'd like to share a card with you that I made with one of the new Spellbinder Pendants, the Fleur de Lis. I used the largest pendant and the next size down in the set. I love the elegant touch that these pendants add to cards!

I hope you're all having a great week, thanks for peeking!

Other products:
Paper: American Crafts Cardstock
Tools: Cuttlebug, textile embossing folder, Spellbinders Standard Circles
Stamps: Papertrey "Mega Mixed Messages"
Misc: ribbon and pearls

Blessed school!

First day of school has arrived for my kiddos! They were so excited this morning - and last night...until 10PM or so when they FINALLY got to sleep. I've gotten them off to school this AM and they're all settled into their new rooms with their friends. Looks like it's going to be another good year!

Here is a card that I made with the new Spellbinders Fleur de Lis pendant. I just love that set, it's so fun! You can't tell very well by the photo, but the blue pendant was covered with Glossy Accents all around the scroll work and then sprinkled with a layer of super fine glitter. It is very sparkly IRL. I'm not sure exactly where the idea for this card came from, I don't do a lot with red and blue. I do love cherries though, so I decided to coordinate with the pretty patterned paper.

It's an amazingly gorgeous August day here, it's only in the 60's so far! I have all the windows open and it's lovely. So far this day is off to a great start ☺

Christmas cards already

Yep, I give up, I had to start making some Christmas cards!

This card came together very quickly, because it had been in the back of my head for a while. The blue paper is from Daisy D's (their Christmas line from a few years ago). The tag is from the new Spellbinder's release - Ribbon Tag Trio 2. It's from my amazing and fantabulous prize package that I won last month AND received yesterday! I have been shooting out cards like crazy, those dies are so inspiring.

As for the branch on the card, I picked it up off the floor in the floral dept at HL and the guy who cleans the floors told me to just take it...so of course I did! The ribbon is from a grab bag at HL, and for those of you who have HL, go to their ribbon section and check to see if they have them. Ribbon grab bags are like little bags of heaven! You get 30 different ribbons, a yard of each. Oh, and they're $1.99, but on 50% off ribbon days, they're only $1!!! You just can't possibly beat that.

The border was made with my EK Success diamond scallop punch, and the mica glitter on the tag is from Martha Stewart. The sentiment is from Papertrey's Mega Mixed Messages set.
Thanks for looking!

And the pink continues...

Here's some more pink for ya. If you don't like it, too bad! I still can't get pink out of my system, so I guess I will continue making pink cards. I actually hated pink when I was a teenager and well into my early 20's. I don't know what happened.

This was made with my new Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant I got at HL with my 40% off coupon. I used the rest of my scrappy sale money that I got earlier in July. I've really loved playing with it!

The paper is also from my friend Alyssa, the DCWV "Be Mine" stack. I used my Cuttlebug and swirls and birds embossing folder for the pink circle behind the sentiment and the pearls are from Multicraft. This is a really simple card to put together, the hardest thing was cutting out the sentiment from the paper it was on.

Well, thanks for looking, hope you're having a great middle of the week ☺

Where did it go?

Summer, that is. It's already the 2nd week in August, and it seems like I didn't get around to half of the summer plans I had. Next Monday, the kids both start school, and the week after that is my first week of college classes in 10 years. So here's to the last days of summer vacation! ☺

Sorry I took a little hiatus, it seemed like I just had no projects to post since they were tied up in challenges or contests. And the longer I don't blog, the harder it is to come back to it. I have a sweet little card to share today though, a simple baby card I made for a friend who is expecting. The paper was from my good friend Alyssa, she sent it to me just for the heck of it! Gotta love scrappy friends ♥ However, I don't know who made the paper, it appears to be from a stack. ****update, Alyssa says that it's from the DCWV stack "Be Mine."

I folded the largest pink ribbon back onto itself 5 times, securing it with tape on the card base and then a strip of tape on top of the folded ribbon. The 2nd pink ribbon was tied around that to keep it in place, and then the lacy ribbon on top was adhered to that. The bottom of the card was cut with an EK Success diamond scallop border punch. I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities scalloped oval for the light pink oval in back, and the front oval was cut from patterned paper. The blue flower is a Prima, and the buttons are just from my stash. Last but not least, the sentiment is from Papertrey's Mega Mixed Messages (love that set btw!) and I used RoseBud Memento ink.

Hope you all enjoy the moment today, those summer days are dwindling!

SNA Blog today

Hi my creative peeps! Today is my blog day at Scrap 'n Art, so go check out the post and card I made! ☺ I had some fun making custom stamped paper, one of my absolute fav things to do. This is just a little peek at the card on today's post.
Today after Levi gets off work, we're planning on taking the kids to the county fair! They only get to go on one carnival ride, but they're super excited. They can't wait to see all the animals and they're especially psyched to see the bunnies for some reason. This fair is way smaller and shorter than the one I am used to (Scottsbluff Co Fair) but it's a fun time.
In scrappy news, I'm waiting for a HL 40% off coupon so I can go get another paper trimmer. Mine is so old and has never worked well. Now I can't even easily find the blades for it because Fiskars seems to be phasing out this model. So good riddance! I'm leaning towards the Cutterpede because I don't want something huge or too expensive. So come on 40% off!
